Why I Rarely Start With Technology
eople are sometimes surprised that when I walk into a business with “tech problems,” the first thing I ask about isn't the tech.
I ask about the sales meeting. The handoff between departments. How a quote actually gets built. Who talks to who, and when.
Because nine times out of ten, the tech isn't broken — it's reflecting a process that was never really designed in the first place. You can buy the fanciest CRM or ERP on the market, and if the underlying workflow is chaos, you've just built a faster, more expensive way to be chaotic.
Fix the process first. The tools usually sort themselves out — or at least, you'll actually know what you need instead of guessing.
That's a big part of what cityvu.com is built around — process before platform, every time.
Have you ever bought a tool hoping it would fix a process problem, only to find the problem just... moved?
